"No one, who uses pretexts or tricks, will take away from the people the right to choose and renew their authorities on the date that has been established by law," he stressed.
"There are those who, on a daily basis, say that everything is wrong and intend to give lessons on what to do, as well as those who seek to take advantage of the pandemic to undermine
democracy and the constitutional order," he added.
In this sense, the statesman stressed that his administration will not give in to those who seek to destabilize the country and generate chaos.
"We will not allow that, as the nation nears its (Independence) Bicentennial, they try to subvert the constitutional order, change the rules of the game, and reverse everything that has been earned," he expressed.
Responsibility and good sense
According to the President, it is necessary that the political forces choose to act responsibly in order to guarantee the country's stability.
“We hope that the political forces, which believe and defend the
value of democracy, act with the wisdom and responsibility that such circumstances demand and do not fall into the game of those who dare to challenge the good faith of a democratic society, which is firm in its principles (…)," he remarked.
The Peruvian leader also ratified his commitment to ensuring an orderly transition thru July 28, 2021 (the day on which he will leave office), promote equitable growth, and fight corruption.
"Peru will move forward supported by the effort and willingness of all Peruvians," he concluded.
